RICHARD AND I

Richard and I
The Beginning
By Eve ©2013

Hello! My name is Layla, I have a pet Unicorn. I know you think I’m Crazy and that I’m just little, but it’s true! I Swear, I have proof I’ll tell you the story of Richard and I...

It all started when I was walking to school for the first time, I was drinking a bottle of juice and the Unicorn appeared, I thought the supermarket had spiked my juice so I threw it away. the Unicorn was coming towards me, and I was scared, I ran most of the way home when the Unicorn stole my bag, he opened the lunch box and stole my carrot. Then for the rest of the day I went around with a unicorn behind me. People said “Nice costume!” and I tried to explain it wasn’t a costume and that he was real. But they wouldn’t listen.

I came back home and decided I would sneak round to the back of the house to hide the Unicorn.. “Shhh!” I whispered, “don’t be too loud, I don’t want to get into trouble” luckily, my dad had gone out the other night and he’s a bit drunk...

the Unicorn and I went round to the back yard and found my dad doing his business behind a bush, I quickly retreated and hid behind the wall. The Unicorn didn’t. I tried whistling but he didn’t come, I wasn’t sure what exactly was happening but I heard dad come over and say “hey Richard... *BLURP* is that you?” The Unicorn stepped forward and nuzzled my dad, I think he liked the name so it stuck and Richard the Unicorn was his name.

After that, dad didn’t remember anything so Richard stayed my secret until dad cleaned out the garage...

After dad fainted and went to the hospital, people started asking why he fainted in the first place. I was wondering too. Unicorns can’t make people die... can they? Anyway I doubt that Richard would kill MY dad... would he? I’ve got so many questions that I don’t know how to find out. I need the answers, and fast.

I went to the library with dad and the librarian asked what I would like to read. “I need a book of mythical creatures or unicorns” I said “okay, why exactly?” I was wondering why she would ask me, it’s a library, and all I need is a book or two! Suddenly out of the corner of my eye a man in a suit with tinted glasses stood in the dark I turned towards him and he stepped forward revealing his F.B.I badge, I thought they were American. then beside me stood a man who was also from the F.B.I, I started to shake and by the looks of it, the men wanted me to feel scared. The librarian reached behind her to unzip her costume. She was also with the F.B.I. “What? I like unicorns!” I stuttered,
“I guess that’s a good enough reason” said the man on my left, I sighed with relief, although I sighed too soon “good enough for a baby to believe!” they all did an evil chuckle, as if they wrote a script to do it at the exact right time.

They took dad and I to somewhere I do not know... because they gave me a lolly which I didn’t eat so they shoved it down my throat, it made me sleep the whole way there, to wherever we went. They sat me and dad down in some really squeaky chairs, there was a mirror and a picture in

the room. Now from movies, I know that one of these is transparent. The man who sat us down left the room and locked the door behind him. A low toned voice came from a speaker in the corner of the room, “Tell us...” I got up and walked up to the painting. “What are you doing sit down!” I didn’t listen I started to kick the painting. “STOP THAT! THAT’S NOT NECESSARY!” I stopped kicking and looked around the room more that fifty guns were surrounding me, I sat down, I whispered in dad’s ear then together we yelled “RICHARD!” suddenly the low voice asked “who’s Richard?” dad was about to tell the voice but I interrupted “our god. We call out to him when we’re having a good time!” Dad smiled and nodded towards the speaker.

A haunting neighing sort of sound filled the room, stomping on the roof followed “What is that?” the low voice's program wires has been stomped to bits, and all that was left was a young man in terror. “Richard!” I answered suddenly Richard came through the ceiling. Dad doubted that the ride would be smooth but I just pushed him on Richard and I jumped on after him. Richard charged his horn and it started to glow a fluorescent yellow colour, the men tried to unlock the door but they couldn’t find the right key. Suddenly everything disappeared into darkness. Richard’s mane was still in my reach, I was happy that I was close to him, he makes me feel safe.

Richard, dad and I popped into our backyard, Richard started to graze in the grass and dad went to sit down because his crotch was hurting.

I don’t blame him, riding a horse without a saddle is very uncomfortable. I went to give Richard a carrot to reward him for saving our lives. Although I wanted to live my life normal as a 8 year young kid, but having a pet unicorn called Richard is much better... And running away from the F.B.I is pretty cool as well...
